Relax in God

Does anyone else reflect to you this total faithfulness of God? If so, dwell for a few minutes in the love of this person. Then dwell in God’s love coming through that person.

If not, spend as much time as you can today letting God’s loving care surround you. Relax in it. Trust in it.

Love yourself

Can all this be blamed on lack of self-love? No, our lives and personalities are not that simple. Severe problems and intense suffering underlie all these symptoms. But part of each problem is a lack of self-respect, a lack of healthy care for self. All these problems reveal a lack of self-love. All recovery calls for growth in love of self.

Coming home

Coming home to ourselves means discovering and accepting everything about ourselves. We may even have covered up attractive qualities like gentleness, assertiveness, or tears of vulnerability, thinking that they are not acceptable. We must uncover all the ways that God has made us and claim them as treasures.

When God brings you home to yourself, what gifts and beautiful qualities do you suspect will be uncovered there?

Union with God

Jesus prays that we may be one with each other and one with him and God. Jesus does not say, “When they become perfect, when they no longer struggle with sin, selfishness and addictions, make them one with us.” Nor does Jesus pray that we all be one in the next world. He is speaking of union with us now, just as we are.

God’s child

If your parents reflected God’s love beautifully, give thanks to them and to God. If your parents were not able to do that, spend some more time imaging yourself being birthed and nurtured by God.
